If you crave a wave, this is the place to be, because the areas surrounding George has the most bodaciously, excellent surf around.
Try spots like the well-known Vic Bay, Buffalo Bay Point and Mossel Bay Point, that can easily push out waves from 8-10 foot.
Experience it, and it will speak for itself. But beware, these waves are not for the infirm of faint of heart.
For beginners there are some really nice spots along the coast at Wilderness, as well as at Buffalo Bay beach.

ALL THE RIGHT REASONS TO IMMIGRATE TO SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa has been on the forefront of the so-called greener pastures of foreign nationals for many centuries.
Immigration has experienced a new awakening since 1994 when the new democratic dispensation was birthed. The recession which hit the United States of America, Britain and Europe, has led to many foreigners looking to South Africa for either temporary or permanent immigration.
There are three major reasons for the new awakening:
1. A weak South African rand;
2. The present property slump, resulting in a buyers market, especially the foreign buyer, and
3. Healthier economic climate as against USA, Britain and Europe Liza Stroebel, founder and director of Immigration Southern Cape, the first private immigration practice in the Garden Route (which opened its doors on 1 April 2003), reports that they have noticed a marked increase in enquiries.
Their top seller still remains the 4 Year Retired Permit, which gives the foreign swallow the opportunity to enter and leave South Africa without any limitations and have speedier access at the border posts as well as entering South Africa with a single airline ticket.
A recent amendment to this category results in a more user-friendly legislation.
To find out whether you qualify for the above or any other permit – such as business, work, volunteer, study or relative permits – please contact one of the IMSC consultants; Rian Pienaar, Hein Stroebel or Liza Stroebel on 044 871 5550 or visit their website at www.imsc.co.za.
An alliance partnership has also recently been signed with Teleo Immigration, Australia. Any South African who wishes to relocate to Australia, can contact Liza Stroebel at liza@imsc.co.za
